On normal dinner nights we eat dinner and go to bed but the other day we ate dinner and sat down with some M n M's and we watched the end of the soccer game of Peru V.S. Paraguay. We did this because my mom was at a retreat and my dad was at home with us so he let us watch the game. Peru lost but it was still fun to watch them play.

Chili's Date
Last night Stephanie, Sofia Fletcher, and I went to Chili's for a Chili's Date. They are my good friends and for my birthday they gave me a certificate to go to Chili's, only us girls. Really, they are like family to me. Everyone at school thinks that Sofia and I are cousins since we're the only gringos there. I got some mozzarella sticks and we got a dessert too.

A Week at KKp
This past week I had school off because the bi-mester ended, so Tuesday, Thursday and Friday I went to Krochet Kids Perú (KKp) to help. On Wednesday I was busy since I had a friend over so I could not go. At KKp I helped out at the kids ministry, with the babies, the toddlers and other littler kids. I had lots of fun having English class :) and making the babies go to sleep. There was a baby boy that was named Mateo, that I always had to hold! He was super funny too!
I also had some time to help bag and tag with Ford who came on Friday, while having ice cream :)

Movie!
Today my dad had off work so we went to see a movie! It was called Hotel Transylvania. It is about a hotel for monsters and a human some how gets past the graveyard and sneaks into the hotel. Dracula and his monster friends don't like humans so he has to try to hide him, but then his daughter falls in love with him and they love each other. Dracula does not want his daughter to marry a human so he tries to hide him.

Concert
About a week ago I was in a concert. I played the xylophone. I stayed every Tuesday and Thursday after school to practice. We played the songs Back in Black and Inga. Inga is a very peruvian song. We still don't know who won but I will let you know as soon as posible.

Spanish Certificate
At my school, there was a contest that happens every year. It is called Spring Festival, and there are three subjects you can win in: Spanish, English and Math in Spanish. I got a certificate in Spanish class! I got third place in the category poems. I had to memorize a poem called "A Cocachos Aprendí." It is a page and a third long! It worked like this: First everyone in the classroom has to say their poem and then the teacher picks the people that pass to the second round. I passed to the second round and then lost. But today my Spanish teacher said there was first, second and third! So I was hoping second or third! The certificate says Riley Goodfellow, 3rd place for your excellent participation in the poetry contest in the Spring Festival. I did not expect to win! I was just hoping!

Languages
At my school I have been learning Spanish last year and this year too. This year they added a new language! French! I am learning French now so I will soon now how to speak French! Also in a couple of years they will start to teach German or Hebrew! It will be very cool to know more than two languages. It is pretty easy to learn a new language because I have learned another language, in this case Spanish. I think it is easier to learn a new language after you already learned a different language because you know how it is to learn a language. It is going to be a very busy school year every year!

Soccer
After school started, I signed up to play soccer for my extra activity at school. I love to play soccer and girls don't play soccer here, so when I signed up to play soccer at school, I was the only girl. All the boys made fun of me and the coach called me "the white girl." He would say "run slower for the white girl." Soon enough I told a teacher and he stopped calling me that after. At my school there is a selection for soccer, if you are in the selection you play for the school team. So I asked the coach if I could be on the team and he said girls are not allowed to play on the team and I was really sad. I was thinking what does me being girl have to do with being on the team? I was very mad at the coach but I got over it and I just kept signing up for soccer as my extra activity a lot.
Moving to Perú
Me
My name is Riley and I live in Lima, Perú in South America. I am eleven years old and I love to play soccer and surf. I have two brothers and one sister, I am the oldest one. I go to school here and have some friends. My family has moved to help people here through Krochet Kids Perú. When I go to help with my Dad I love to help with the little kids, especially the babies. I have learned Spanish pretty easily and I love to speak it.
